As we continue to expand and update our Training Institute, you will find all of the current WADADS trainings listed here. If you are interested in a training that we don't offer, please let us know, and we will do our best to find out how you can obtain that training.

All of our trainings are available statewide. We provide these training workshops to providers, agencies, and other professionals at reasonable rates to cover the printing of materials, and necessary travel expenses. If you would like to inquire about a training, and its related costs, use the Contact WADADS form.

Education Advocacy: This is a FREE training opportunity. Currently we have two trainers certified by TreeHouse to provide this 2 hour workshop which introduces foster parents, parents, and staff members to the the process of becoming an Educational Advocate. Handouts and booklets are provide at no cost to the participants. Minimum class size is ten attendees. We do request a week or two notice to set this presentation up for you.

Collaborative Problem Solving: This is a 10 week course based on the book "The Explosive Child" by Dr. Green. This class will give you new strategies and techniques for dealing with your child and frequent meltdowns. The class is two hours a week, for 10 weeks.

IEP Workshop: This one day training is designed to inform parents of the Individualized Education Plan process (IEPs). We cover the process from requesting an evaluation, the timelines involved, the IEP meeting, writing SMART goals, follow up, and record keeping as well.

Parenting Skills: A one or two day training that covers the "Big Three" of parenting skill sets 1-2-3 Magic, the Explosive Child, and Love and Logic. This training provides an overview of all three parenting styles, and parents can then decide which would work best in their home.

Juvenile Crisis Intervention Training (JCIT): This specialized training is provided to law enforcement personnel, and first responders. The goal is simple, to educate these folks on interacting with agitated children, with a variety of different behaviors, or mental health concerns. How we de-escalate a child with ADHD is completely different than de-escalating a child dealing with Aspergers or autism.

Parent Partners: This 2-3 day training provides a solid foundation for youth and adults who wish to assist other families on their journey to recovery. Specific skill sets are introduced, discussed, and practiced. Key components include- Record keeping, confidentiality, cultural competency, active listening, personal safety, IEPs, wraparound, ethics, and self esteem and self care.
